Convertible Tops and Upholstery near Palos Heights and Palos Park

The Palos communities (Palos Heights, Palos Park, and Palos Hills) sit just west of Alsip, surrounded by forest preserves and winding roads that are made for a convertible with the top down. Don's Auto Interiors & Tops has served Palos-area drivers since 1977 from our shop on Cicero Avenue, close enough that 127th Street gets you most of the way here.

Weekend drives, weekend cars

The roads through the Palos forest preserves draw convertibles, classics, and motorcycles every nice weekend. Palos-area customers often bring us:

Convertible tops

Weekend cars spend a lot of time parked, sometimes outside, and tops shrink, fade, and lose their seal. We replace tops in vinyl or cloth, replace or rebond rear windows, and repair hydraulic power tops. See convertible top replacement and convertible top repair.

Classic interiors

Palos has plenty of garage-kept classics. If yours needs seats, door panels, carpet, or a headliner, we can restore it to original or build something custom from scratch. See classic car interiors.

Motorcycle seats

Riders who cruise the forest preserve roads put real miles on their seats. We rebuild packed-down foam, reshape seats for comfort, and recover them in leather, vinyl, or suede with custom stitching. See motorcycle seats.

Under the trees

Cars parked under trees, common on Palos's wooded lots, face their own problems. Sap, leaves, and debris collect on convertible tops and in their drains. Clogged drains send water into the cabin, and debris left on cloth tops can stain and wear the fabric. Keeping the top and its drains clean makes a big difference, and if water has already damaged carpet or a headliner, we can fix those too. See auto carpet replacement and headliner replacement.

Boats

Many Palos households tow a boat to the lake on summer weekends. We recover boat seats in marine vinyl, rebuild waterlogged foam and soft wooden bases, and make and repair canvas covers and bimini tops. Off-season drop-offs are the easiest way to be ready for spring. See boat upholstery and pontoon boat seats.

Everyday repairs

Not every job is a weekend toy. We fix the torn driver's seat on the family SUV, the sagging headliner in a commuter, and worn carpet in the work truck. Smaller repairs usually take much less time.

Getting here

From Palos Heights, take 127th Street east to Cicero Avenue. From Palos Park and Palos Hills, 123rd Street, 127th Street, or 111th Street will all get you to Cicero. Our shop is at 11937 S. Cicero Ave, Alsip, IL 60803, open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Book ahead for spring

If you want your convertible, classic, or bike ready for the first warm weekends, schedule in winter. Top installations take 8 to 12 hours of shop time, and our spring calendar fills quickly.

Classic and vintage tops

Many older convertibles in the Palos area still wear tops that were installed decades ago. Before replacing a vintage top, we inspect the frame, pads, well liner, and tack strips, which are often worn on older cars, so the new top fits properly the first time.

Horse trailers and equipment

Rural parts of the Palos area are home to trailers, tractors, and mowers as well as cars. We make custom covers and tarps, and repair tractor and equipment seats with new covers, rebuilt foam, and frame welding. Bring just the seat. See forklift and tractor seats.
