Restaurant Booth, Bar Stool, and Hospitality Seating Reupholstery
In a restaurant or bar, seating is part of the experience. A split booth seat with tape on it, or a bar stool with foam poking out, tells guests something about the place before the food arrives. Don's Auto Interiors & Tops repairs and reupholsters hospitality seating from our shop in Alsip, serving restaurants, bars, and hotels across Chicago and the suburbs.
What we work on
- Restaurant booths: seats, backs, and individual sections
- Bar stools: seat tops and backs
- Dining chairs with upholstered seats or backs
- Hotel and lobby seating
- Banquettes and bench seating
Why booths wear out
Hospitality seating gets used harder than almost anything else. Guests slide in and out all day, staff wipe surfaces down repeatedly, and spills are constant. Typical failures include:
- Seam splits where guests slide across the front edge
- Cracked vinyl from frequent cleaning with harsh chemicals
- Flattened foam that leaves the seat sitting low and feeling hard
- Torn corners on bar stools where they bump against the bar
Repair or recover?
Repair is often enough when the damage is limited to one section, the material is otherwise sound, and the foam still supports.
Recover makes sense when the vinyl is cracking in many places, the color has faded unevenly, or you want to update the look. We'll usually recommend new foam with a recover so the seating feels as good as it looks.
Either way, reupholstering usually costs much less than replacing built-in booths or a full set of stools, especially when the frames are solid.
Materials that hold up to restaurant cleaning
For hospitality seating we work in vinyl, leather, Ultra-Suede, and synthetics, and we stock over 1,000 cloth and vinyl material types. For most dining rooms and bars, a commercial-grade vinyl is the practical choice: it wipes clean and handles frequent sanitizing. Let us know which cleaning products your staff uses so we can recommend material suited to them.
Keeping your doors open
We know a dining room with no seats isn't an option. When we plan a hospitality job, we look at:
- Staging: doing a few booths or a set of stools at a time
- Removable pieces: many booth seat cushions, stool tops, and chair seats can be removed and brought to our shop while you keep operating
- Timing: scheduling work around your slow days or seasons
Getting an estimate
Photos make quoting fast. Please send:
- A wide shot of the dining room or bar seating
- Close-ups of the worst damage
- A count of booths, sections, stools, or chairs
- Your preferred color, or a photo of the current material if you want to match it
- Any timing constraints, such as a reopening date or a busy season
For bars, hotels, and event spaces
The same approach works for bar stools, hotel lobby seating, and event venue chairs. If you manage multiple locations, we can quote them together.
Business rates and other services
B2B partners receive discounted rates. We also handle seating for gyms, medical and dental offices, theaters, schools, and offices, plus custom covers and awnings. See commercial upholstery, gym equipment upholstery, and medical and dental chair upholstery.
Seasonal timing
Many restaurants and bars schedule seating work before their busiest seasons, like the holidays, patio season, or a big event, so the dining room looks its best when it's full. Planning ahead also gives us time to order a specific color if it isn't in stock.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to close while you work on my booths?
Not necessarily. We can plan the work in stages, for example a few booths or a set of stools at a time, so you keep seating available. Tell us your hours and slow days and we'll work around them.
Can you repair a single torn booth seat?
Yes. If only one section is damaged and the rest is in good condition, we can repair or recover that section. If the other seating has faded, we'll talk about how closely new material will match.
Do you offer business pricing?
Yes. B2B partners receive discounted rates.
